We continue our tour...

Pirgi is famous for its “graffiti”,decorations on the houses, made by long forgotten artists, also by contemporary ones.

It would be a pity to miss out Emporios, a small ancient harbour and the  2 beaches of Mavra Volia or Mavros Gialos, with volcanic black pebbles and stones. In the neighbourhood of the Mastic-village Olimpi, you have to visit the dripstone cave, a particular experience.

Pirgi

Mesta, a particular Middle-Ages village! the houses are built like in the Middle-Ages, inside they' re renovated, generally  they are very confortable, there are rooms, apartments and houses to rent. It is always exciting to find out of the labyrinth of lanes to reach the platia, the village square where everybody meets. Here are tavernas, an Internet-cafeteria, (more or less everywhere WIFI is available), for those who love to stay late,  small bars. Not to forget , there are more tavernas and mini-markets hidden in the labyrinth of typical lanes.

Walking trough the small streets you past by Eris little shop, usely she is sitting at the loom, weawing carpets, shawls and sets which she offers, you may have a look inthe shop where you listen always beautiful music. Also there are some more art-shops, like  Agnytha, Penelopi, Nefeli and very important, in Irini’s tourist-shop you can buy cards and stamps.

Mesta is one of the Mastic-villages, thank goodness, two years ago it was protected from the big fire. The Mastic-culture office is located at the platia, Vassilis and Roula give you good advises to the “ecotourism-activities”. They are local experts and can also arrange for accommodations in Mesta and other parts of Chios.
